Plus, my college graduation film, which received a commendation by the Galway Arts Festival animation panel [was it really 1989?]:

'Heavensent Down'

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This isn't from Ninja Turtles OR my college movie - it's just a bit of fun.I also had the great honour, to contribute to that wonderful series that we all loved so well: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This was at Murakami Wolf Swenson Studios. I had dreamt of working on stuff like 'The Snowman' or 'When the Wind Blows'. Well, actually it was 'Saturday Morning Animation'. I was Assistant Animator. Straight from college, full of ambition, enthusiasm and energy - and a couple of top people in there were very encouraging - they knew I was an idealist. Jimmy Murakami even wrote "You're right - you should do what you like!" on my going away card. I left to go freelance with Emerald city. It wasn't exactly Aardman but I was an animator. I had a chance to really shine. I did shine but sadly the company went under after about 5 months.

I remember Seamus Culhane the Disney animator said in his excellent book 'Animation form Script to screen'; something to the effect of "whatever you do - DON'T be tempted to enter a studio when you leave school, it'll sap your enthusiasm." He was right.

It was much better running our own company Heavensent Animation, Illustration & Design and working directly for our own clients. I'm greatful to the people who believed in us especially in RTE and ARKS.

Thank you!
