AIB Kids
This site was the greatest fun ever to create. Allied Irish Bank wanted to create an online space in which kids could learn about saving - and money. It would include non-linear pages of educational content describing where money comes from, what it's made of, who invented money, who works in the bank etc. Those pages would contain fun images, animations and well-written text. The emphasis was more on exploration, presumably so that the site could grow and sustain interest over repeated visits. So in addition to this non-linear learning approach, there would also be graphically-rich, engaging games and quizzes. To make the pitch to AIB the web agency needed some visuals:
'AIB Kids' homepage concept (2005)
The initial concept - above - was sketched on paper and worked up extremely quickly on the computer and HTML'd - in about a day with some fun rollovers and animations. The agency made their pitch - and won.
'Just for Kids!' homepage final design (2006)
Interactive Games, Quizzes and Puzzles
Coming tomorrow: More on the shockwave games, quizzes and puzzles that feature on the site such as the Savings Gizmo!

The Savings Gizmo is a tool for calculating how much you'll need to put aside each week. (2006)
"Drag Hugo's pointing finger to activate the timeline' - quite comical looking in action but very informative and fun. (2006)
Match the coins to the country by dragging and dropping. (2006)
Examine the Euro notes to see if it's genuine (2006)
