Ireland.ie
Development#2
Ireland.ie Websites (2005)
This was a major project that was to breathe new life into the Irish Tourism industry. It involved 9 sites (including regional sub-sites) and had extremely useful search functionality built into using a massive database of activities, tourist attractions and accommodation.
A massive amount of money was invested in this new brand ireland.ie and included intensive TV, Radio, press and street marketing. It "had to" work.
I did, except for it's overlap with Discover Ireland's own excellent endeavours.
We built one portal site, 7 regional sites, redesigned and rebuilt the portal site again and added new activity sites for Golf, Hill Walking and more.
The Second round of development was built in .NET - and was my first experience of that and its own mode of micro-modularity. As a designer I was really having to delve deeply through layers of modules and their component parts to get the look we wanted. Quite a learning curve.
