'Lessons in Elitism' [1995]
I'm still proud of this piece, it seems
to be chock full of good ideas. I can't help thinking that this was
one on which my wife pitched in with the concepts...

'Mankind United' [1996]
This was a cynical article about why people
are motivated toward acts of generosity and caring, the selfish gene
etc. I find Richard Dawkins very interesting so I enjoyed this commission
immensely. I really got creative with it...

Father Ted [1997]
What an honour this was! A Sunday Independent
article about the Father Ted phenomenon. This was such fun as I was
a fan from the word go.

'The Generation Gap' [1998]
Interesting job this. Checkout magazine ran
an article about GM food technology - so from the depths of my mind
I dragged this disturbing eugenic/tomatostein image. Topics raised
in the article included pig genes in tomatoes. I was about
to say that I didn't...

Sleeping Pills [1997]
This is a colour version of an Irish Independent

Rent boys article [1997]
Irish Independent article about predatory
perverts and rent boys in Dublin. I was in Francis Bacon mode around
about this time. Hence the amiguity, free marks and umbrella [Also,

the Irish Sunday Independent Newspaper. Errol Flynn was cited as

venturing into the combined Academic and Collage mode...

'Tuskar Air Disaster' [1996]
This was my first ever 'info-graphic'; if
you don't count the Story-board/comic-strip' type of work that the
Sunday Independent Newspaper commissioned from me. This explained
the dreadful air disaster of the 1960's off the south coast of Ireland.
Very mysterious circumstances - it has been suggested that it may
have collided with a pilotless military plane.

'TnaG article' [1996]
Sunday Independent article about TeleNaGael;
and its 'propping-up' with RTE generated revenue [the State TV station].
TnaG is actually a pretty good channel. They show old good
movies and lots of good documentaries about Irish History, ancient
crafts & culture like Currach building...
