Equinox eBusiness Solutions
Head of Design Department/Senior Website Designer

I was a key member of this successful Dublin Internet Agency.

In addition to personally designing over 35 websites for a wide range of high profile clients, I also hired and led the design department. I successfully guided our client and in-house working relationships; helping to steer each project to a successful conclusion, passing on the benefit of my experience and knowledge in an educational and I hope, inspirational capacity to clients and colleagues.

I constantly pushed to implement new systems to improve department and company-wide practices on projects including: Pre-Production Client Questionnaire, Project Documentation on intranet, Quality-Checklists, centrally stored eMail correspondence, standardised website architectures. I authored the company design-policy and published it on our Intranet for easy reference and updates.

Typical visual design work:

  • dynamically-driven websites and back-offices for major clients
  • eCommerce Websites using Templates that I developed myself specifically for equinox' Provendor Software
  • Semi-Static sites with some database-served content
  • Design oriented 'Brochure' sites
  • Equinox' Identity, Branding & Company Literature
  • Equinox' press advertisements
  • the Equinox Website [2nd & 3rd incarnations - new one in development by the MD with some input from myself]
  • the Equinox Intranet

I am proud above all of the good relationships that I built with clients and staff, and their positive feedback and appreciation.

Completed: DCC, YHA England & Wales, The International Rugby Board [3 sites], Forfas, National Accreditation Board, St. John of God Services, APSO, Department of Justice 'Know Racism', IDI, National Standards Authority of Ireland [NSAI], Penco Insurances, Clio Forde, Gaeltarra Ireland

Baltimore Technologies, Dublin Head Office
Company-wide Senior Designer

I was the Senior Designer at Baltimore Technologies during their successful period in 1999.

At that time they had 15 offices worldwide with over 600 staff. I was responsible for creating, managing and when required, out-sourcing the printed marketing material; brochures, flyers, cards, badges, stickers, logotypes. All of which tended to involve imminent and strict deadlines, delivery to national and international offices and print houses.

I was also heavily involved in the design work for their websites. This broad scope of work of course brought me into co-operation with all departments and many offices globally.

SoftCo Ireland Ltd. and eCom
in-house Web/Print Designer and Illustrator

While at SoftCo I designed and created print and promotional material, contributed to the website and intranet and advised on exhibition graphics and stands.

I also worked, for a time concurrently, at eCom an experimental subsidiary company. For eCom I worked conceptually on, and designed the Architecture & landscape for an ambitious Web-linked CD ROM eCommerce product featuring an enormous shopping environment. I collaborated with new recruits to translate these designs into 3D Studio Max models then used in the embeddedQuick-Time VR movies.

Crofton Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
Freelance Animator

If I was actually in-house; I'd produce cleaned-up key drawings of the scenes and they'd be inbetweened by an assistant. In my case, I totally animated, in-betweened and cleaned-up my own scenes ready for photocopying and cel painting.

Assistant Animator

Within this type of Studio system the job titles are a little inflated. Basically I took the cleaned-up versions of the animator's key drawings, 'in-betweened' them and cleaned them up.
